
The Centre for Social Investment was founded in 2006 as a central academic institute of Heidelberg University cooperating with the economics, social science, law and theological faculties. Its mission is to:
To serve these objectives, the Centre engages in four principal, integrated tasks on an ongoing basis: Research, Teaching, Convening, and Outreach. CSI runs a master's programme in 'Non-profit Management and Governance' offering interdisciplinary training for current and prospective executives in non-profit organisations.
The CSI case collection comprises teaching cases and teaching notes as curricular material for executive trainings of foundation professionals. The case study material was descended from 20 in-depth case studies within the scope of the CSI research project 'Strategies for Impact in Philanthropy' (SIP).
